Well, to play the game, click on New Game and select Pro Game or Practice. The differences between them is that Practice is pretty much practice. You'll get unlimited bait, and you'll just be able to walk around the lake and fish wherever you choose! You don't have to worry about money, but, you won't be able to get any money. In Practice you can't go to the stores. Also, if you catch a really big fish it won't be recorded in the record book. Hey, you'll have to play the real game for that. So, the Pro Game option is where you actually do get to go to the shops and spend money and get a bunch of other choices. And your fish will be recorded, and you'll be able to sell your fish for money at the Fish Market. You'll also buy bait and other supplies.
OK, so you've picked which type of game you want to play. So what's the difference between the two ways to reel? Well, you can click on the explain button, or I can explain it for you right here. The Tense is where you just click once, as soon as the bobber goes down, and if you click fast enough, you get the fish automatically. This is the lazy man's (or woman's, for that matter) way of fishing, but even it gets pretty darn hard if you select the Pro difficulty setting. The Hand-done reel is where you actually, physically move the mouse in a circle and reel in the fish, just as if you're reeling it in in real life. I prefer this way because even if you don't have the quickest reflexes, you'll still be able to stand a chance of pulling in the big one.
As for the difficulty settings, they're just like it says. Beginner is for the beginners, Novice is for the medium players, and the Pro setting is for the guys who have laughed at the beginner and novice settings.
As for the bait and other things in the game, you can find those out for yourself. Also, one more note: I strongly recommend Optimizing your Monitor in the Options menu. Of course, if you're monitor is already set at 8 bits then you don't have to. But if it's not, this is an easy way to get the game to play the best for you. Also, give the game at least 3.5 MB of RAM, if not a lot more. This game relies on graphics, sound, and gameplay speed, so the more elbow room you give it, the better it plays. Plus, do NOT run it off a Zip disk or any other optical disk. It runs slow as he...heck. Yeah. OK. Well, that's about it.
Bugs
I've tested this game on a Performa 6115CD, a 6110CD (Both with PowerPC chips) , a Performa 630 (With a 68040 chip) , and not much else. It crashes if you do not give it more than 2 MB of RAM, and if you don't give it 3.5 or more, the game will not show its graphics. There could still be some incompatibility issues with the game, but hopefully the people out there in Internet land can tell them to me if there are any.
